Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh, India) : HJS members and devout Hindus protested and agitated against Jammu and Kashmir Govt. decision of reducing the period of Amarnath Yatra to 39 days. Hindus also submitted memorandum for Hon. President of India through District Magistrate and Addl. City Magistrate Mr. Vivek. The agitation was organised in front of Varanasi District Headquarter and nearly 60 Hindus were present for the same.
While addressing to the audience, the dignitaries said, “Amarnath Yatra is attached with religious sentiments and devotion of crores of Hindus. Every year lakhs of Hindus from all over the world participate in the Yatra and this number is increasing every year. This year number of Hindus will be around 1 million. Hence period of Amarnath Yatra should be at least 60 days, so that everyone can get the ‘Darshan’ of ‘Shri Amarnath Deity’. Jammu and Kashmir Govt. also gets income from Amarnath Yatra.”
Speakers further said, “But with Govt.’s decision to reduce the period of Amarnath Yatra, it appears that J&K Govt. is supporting separatists and fanatic Muslims through this decision. This year as per J&K Govt.’s decision, Amrnath Yatra will start on 25 June and it will end on 2 August 2012. This decision is nothing but the ‘surrender’ in front of Pakistan-supported Terrorists.”
All devout Hindus present in the agitation condemned J&K Govt. and protested against the decision.
Speakers also said, “Separatist leader Syed Shah Geelani always demands to reduce the period of Amarnath Yatra. To fulfill his ‘dreams’, J&K Govt. is taking such Anti-Hindu decision. This decision has hurt religious sentiments of crores of Hindus.”
Hindus demanded that Central Govt. and J&K Govt. should not play with sentiments of Hindus and Govt. should increase period of Amarnath Yatra to 60 days and also it should provide all facilities and protection to Hindu pilgrims. If Govt. will not do so, there may eruption of sentiments of enraged Hindus and Govt. will be totally responsible for the same.
Speakers present for the agitation were Mr. Manish Pandey, Vice President, Hindu Yuva Vahini; Advocate Mr. Deshratna Shrivastav; Advocate Mr. Arun Maurya; Dr. R. R. Sharma; Mr. Nilesh Singbal, HJS.
