Update : Two shop owners removed the products from their online shops. Please continue to peacefully protest.
Protest against denigration of Hindu Deity Shri Ganesh by etsy.com
Etsy.com is an online shopping portal selling products such as leggings and mobile cases with images of Hindu Deity Shri Ganesh, amounting to denigration of Shri Ganesh.
Alert Hindus notified Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA) about this denigration of Hindu Deity. FHA wrote to etsy.com appealing to stop the denigration by removing these products, but there has been no response from them. (The letter explaining the denigration is published on latter part of this page.)
Links to denigrating products are provided for reference below:
Having images of Deities on clothing and mobiles leads to denigration as these products get thrown away and mishandled, thus insulting the sentiments of millions of Hindus who worship the Deities. Therefore, we appeal to supporters of Hinduism to lawfully and peacefully protest against this blatant denigration of Hindu Deities, by writing to the owners at the following email ID

We at Forum for Hindu Awakening have received a complaint from devout Hindus regarding the sale of leggings with the image of Shri Ganapati on your shopping portal http://www.etsy.com.
Please see below some of the links where images of Hindu Deity Shri Ganapati have been used:
According to spiritual science, the word, touch, form, taste, fragrance and the energy associated with them coexist. Whenever any image of a Deity is used, the divine energy also accompanies it. It helps devotees to obtain the divine or spiritual energy from it. However, when Hindu Deities are used on items like leggings, T-shirts and mobile cases as you have done on your products, they are touched with dirty hands, get thrown around, collect dust, sweat, etc. when used and once old eventually turn up in the waste bin. This amounts to denigration and insult of revered Deities, which is hurtful to the religious sentiments of Hindus and insults Hinduism. Deities’ images should be used only in sacred places like Temples and that too only for the purpose of worshiping them, and not on leggings or mobile cases.
It has also been noticed that your webpage has the image of Deity Shri Ganapati and Deity Hanuman which are not according to the spiritual science. Such images emit either unpleasant vibrations or less of the Deity principle. It is important that any Deity’s picture is in accordance with the spiritual science. We request you to visit our webpage explaining the features of Shri Ganapati and Deity Hanuman according to the spiritual science:
We had approached etsy.com in the year 2011 to appeal against the sacred chant of ‘Om Namaha Shivay’ printed on the back side of yoga pants. On learning about the matter, the store owner rendered an apology and withdrew the offending stock from the store. In the year 2015 you came up with images of Hindu Deities on clothes.

One of the ways we do this is by addressing misrepresentations of Hinduism.
In view of above, we request you to stop the manufacture, advertisement and sale of products with Hindu Deities’ pictures & remove such links from your shopping portal and avoid such denigration of Hindu Deities and religious symbols in future. Awaiting your prompt action and reply.
