Amaravati, Maharashtra: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has started ‘Dharma-shikshan’ and ‘Self-defence’ classes for young girls at ‘Sri Ganesha Mangalam Mangal Karyalaya’ in Paratwada on every Saturday from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Nowadays, cases of rape are taking place on large scale all over India; there are incidents of eve-teasing at many places like colleges and markets etc. In this training class, girls are taught to defend themselves in such situation by training them in karate and ‘lathi’ etc. In this training class, girls are prepared to even mentally and spiritually face the situation along with physical training. Kum. Rageshri Deshpande of HJS first explained the present condition of nation and Dharma and need for self-defence before start of the training. The class was attended by 60 girls.

  1. The girls said that their self-confidence has increased and fear is reducing due to these Dharma-shikshan and self-defence classes.
  2. A girl narrated her experience of facing a difficult situation and how she defended herself.
  3. The class was started with recitation of ‘Shakti-stavan’ concluding with singing of ‘Kshatra-geeta’ and raising slogans.
