Only warning will not be enough; but stringent action should be taken against news channels which telecast such offensive news so that it will put a curb on them !

New Delhi : ‘India TV’ a Hindi news channel had telecast news about H.H. Asaram Bapu’s celebrating ‘Holi’ festival at New Mumbai in a very exaggerated and insulting manner; therefore, ‘TRAI’ has given a strict warning to the said channel and informed that if similar mistake was committed again, more stringent action would be taken against the news channel. H. H. Asaram Bapu’s devotees had lodged a complaint with TRAI against India TV channel for the manner in which news about H. H. Asaram Bapu’s celebrating ‘Holi’ festival was telecast by them. His devotees did not find the explanation given by the said channel as satisfactory; therefore, TRAI conducted a detailed inquiry. It was found by TRAI that the language used by the channel while telecasting this news was insulting, defaming and ridiculous.
